CCWP Digital Storytelling Series

Join two of our local educators in partnership with the Central California Writing Project to explore opportunities for incorporating digital storytelling into your work or curriculum. This series is based on using iMovie/iPhoto/GarageBand: Taught on Macs; easily adaptable to Windows or Linux.

Professional Development Unit available through UC Extension for participation in both the Beginning and Advanced sessions .
Another four-session series to expand your digital storytelling skills. We will be providing enhanced support for Windows users who would like to use PhotoStory during this series.Day one we explore different approaches to storytelling and advanced audio editing techniques. Day two we'll learn more advanced video techniques, like transitions and the subtleties of pan and zoom (the "Ken Burns" effect). Day three we delve into enhancements, like background music and sound effects. Day four we'll explore publication possibilities and entering contests and festivals with your students' work or your own.





Teacher Bios:

Fred Mindlin is a retired teacher and pioneer in using the internet in
public education. Now consulting with schools, non-profits, and
business on digital storytelling, multimodal writing, and creative
computing, he directed grant-funded technology integration programs
for PVUSD for 7 years. He maintains TheDigitalStoryteller website and
also provides web hosting and design services.

Graciela Vega-Carbajal is a teacher and digital media/visual artist.
She graduated with a Film and Video Production B.A. from Pitzer
College; she studied Studio Art at Scripps College and works as a
Language Arts teacher at Renaissance High School. She has a passion
for writing, visual arts, and digital work. Leading digital
storytelling workshops in the past, she shares this passion with
others.
